It's baaaaack! (Notes and titles mismatched)

Postby RobLewis on Sat Oct 24, 2009 11:21 am

Seaching through my recipe notes for the term "pancake", Evernote.app found it in the note body, but paired it with a totally wrong header (title, tags, etc.)

And right now, I'm looking at another note containing the recipe for cornmeal pancakes, and its displayed title is "The Halogen Cycle" (trust me, not the right title).

Using the web interface, everything seems fine. Not that it should matter, but I'm using the app on 2 different computers, one Leopard, one Snow Leopard, to access the same note database.

What the hey??? Why does this keep happening?

You may want to try the latest Mac pre-release:

Quit Evernote from the Evernote icon in the Menu Bar
Download this test build of the Mac client:
http://www.evernote.com/about/download/ ... releaseMac
Install this in your Applications folder and start Evernote

That just gives me

"The following disk images failed to mount:
Evernote_61731-3.dmg
Reason: not recognized.

I went ahead and updated to 1.5.1 but the problem persists.

Do you only see this in notes with PDFs, or only with images, web clips, etc.? Or does this happen randomly with a variety of notes?

Immediately after you see this happen with a note, you could run the Mac "Console" application. Then look at the last few "Evernote" lines for any obvious errors. I haven't seen this before, so there may be some unusual issue in your account contents.

I just launched Evernote, and when I found the note (title) I was looking for, its content was from a completely different note.

The note contains only text. This one is part of a bunch of old notes that I imported from SOHO Notes, using an AppleScript I wrote. The script is very simple; I can send it to you if you want. But given that Evernote's AppleScript implementation is, shall we say, a trifle challenged, I suspect that could be the problem. However, I don't yet know whether only these imported notes are displaying the problem, and certainly nowhere near all of the imported ones are messed up.

This is all I found in the console log:

10/30/09 8:20:31 AM Evernote[32795] Client name: Evernote Mac/61731 (en-US); MacOS/10.5.8;
10/30/09 8:20:34 AM Evernote[32795] WebKit runtime: 531.9.0

10/30/09 8:20:34 AM Evernote[32795] 0 notes need thumbnails
10/30/09 8:20:39 AM Evernote[32795] 4 notes to process

OK, this is gettin' ridiculous.

Just did another "find in Evernote" from the menu bar elephant, and it retrieved a bunch of notes, many with the wrong titles.

As before, this problem does not occur with the web interface (thank goodness, or I would really be freaking out).

Isn't there some way to rebuild the local database or something? I just checked another Mac (10.6.1) synced to the same database and it seems to be OK. This one (10.5.8) isn't. Both running EN 1.5.2.

Here's all that's in the Console log:
